My issues with my 2012 Ford flex SEL started 1 year ago with it going into limp mode, 1 throttle body and 1 ECM later issue cleared up then the advance trac showed up 1 random day about 30 days later, but then went away after 30 seconds or so. I'd seen this light pop up briefly over my time owning the car. and I've had fuel pump level sensor light come on from time to time with no symptoms but i'd clear the alert and move on and it'd not show up for a while longer.
well 4 months later, the advance started going on frequently,to the point of it staying on. have replaced the wheel sensors as that was a code we got in January, issue then got resolved with a new instrument panel cluster, for 30 days, then issue came back. when ever advancetrac issue came up i'd get bouncey idle and sometimes A/C would stop working, but it'd blow air just now cooling. Then it got to the point where the cluster would only show the fuel gauge. RMP/speedometer would flateline, and would not be able to scan with tool when it did this lost all contact with ECM with scan tool. if it got to this state i'd not be able to start the car in this state. New cluster program fixes the issue. thought it could be water leak shorting something out, or could it be the BCM ? that was mentioned in another thread?
well bought OEM ford cluster from ford and couldn't get shop to program it so onto ford it goes and they finally get the new cluster programmed but not sure what is happening at this point ford has it for 45 days and then states needs 4x4 control module that doesnt' fix it and I'm back to square 1 with a flex that does the same thing it's been doing since January. shop I had it earlier thinks water is getting into instrument cluster and causing short.
