Howdy,
Long-time-no-post but we still have our 2013 Ford FLEX SEL AWD. Not SONY. Flush mounted camera, not the bulging FORD logo.
There were many helpful posts (and a lot of not helpful ones) here and on other boards, so I thought I would post fresh, with a "did this recently" for 2024.
For our particular issue - these are the facts of our problem:
Camera became inverted - only ONCE switching it into reverse after a restart (before sync boot) the camera would be right, but other than that, not intermittent at all.
No-Go for your basic resets:
One YouTube or other post who re-grounded the harness mused that the camera was never bad for most people, and that unplugging or wiggling the wires was a fix. No grounding issues here.
I had a few whacky "foolproof" clip removal ideas and started to get a tool setup for doing this and was going to share it, but the fact is that the opened hatch is the wrong (gravity-wise) way to pry easily.
Also, if you're taking the rear trim off and it's giving you trouble, there's probably another clip -- three clips are in a "no thought to removal" location. DO NOT cut and replace, because I did replace the W716646-S300 -- but they're STILL $4.50 each any way you shake it.
The GM/Chevy clips that someone else used (25693852) are very close, but the tolerances are not good enough to replace ALL the factory clips - if you do, move the good Ford ones to the corners and space the rest out.
OEM Cameras new can be had on ebay for $75, so it's not as big of a decision now.
That's it - just wanted to put some more info out on this process and update the part numbers etc.
