160,000 mile dealer service was fine, but 300 miles later had to replace throttle valve due to jerky acceleration/coast (had been cleaned during service). Then 500 miles later engine misfire while highway cruising. Misfire went away after 20 miles, but check engine light remained on. Misfire code indicated cylinder #4. Power balance test "slight misfire on #3 and #4". Compression check has #2 at 135psi, #3 at 120psi, others all at 150psi.
Dealer service wants to continue to tear into things with unknown duration, or simply replace engine. Both multi-$k adventures. Did these things happen as a result of service, or just coincidentally bad timing? Any advice on what is going on? KBB value is only ~$5000, so not sure how much I want to put into this.
Is there a good place for independent Ford service in SF South Bay area (Mountain View, Sunnyvale, San Jose, etc.)? Dealer service seems expensive at $240/h, and not sure they are up for the detective work.
