Hi,
Thought I will leave some info on viscous coupler replacement for ford flex I did, just in case it might help someone.
I had shuddering and hesitation on tight turns so kinda figured it was the coupler. I did replace the PTU and RDU oil while at it. The oils did not seem too bad. I only have 60K miles.
I did buy the unit on ebay not OEM part.
So far it seems fine but I did not put too many miles on the car yet.
The issues: It seems the non-oem part can not be programmed in Forscan, it errors out. So i did not change the coupler code in the system.
I am attaching couple pictures. There was some oil in the housing, maybe quarter cup total, and it seems it got hot and left some burn marks on the coupler.
Also the magnetic Ring has bubbling like the plastic was heated up.
The new coupler has only one writing and I assume that is the code but it did not work. Original coupler 6226 was replaced with P349.
