Powertrain / Under The Hood • Advice? Clunk/Slipping After Stop

So 152K and the 2011 Limited FWD non EB started giving me a tiny bit of a clunk or a slip
in the driver front tire area, almost like it was a foot or two past the dead pedal (by feel).
This started about two months ago and since then it's gotten worse and become slightly audible and more obvious. Naturally, it plays possum when I take it to a shop.

More specifically, after a stop, and more pronounced after a harder stop or if it's been running for a while on the highway, when you start accelerating away in the second and a half or so when you start to pull away it feels almost like something is pulling through a narrow neck and then "pops" into a free space. It's a tension of the inertia, then a pop release, creating sort of a slip or a skip. I've also heard some creaking (not the brake pedal), from that general area when pulling away which is worrying.

You can get it to not do it, or not do it as often, if you very gingerly come away from the stop, gentle slow acceleration until you get it up to speed.

So far I've tried:
New control arms, bushings, strut and shocks. New tires last winter, brakes just before that.
It's had the whole tire/suspension area inspected by two shops.
Just changed the trans fluid, did a drain and fill 2x with a drive to work in between. While it was still a liquid, had about the same color as barbeque sauce. I bought the car at 53K as a CPO so honestly not sure it's ever had a fluid change since then. Local dealer wanted $400 for it.

Last time I had something similar it was the brake clip being snapped in half on that same wheel, but that was during stopping, not accelerating away.

So fellow Flex owners, any ideas? The only items I've had suggested to me is take it to a transmission shop or possibly one or more of the motor mounts could be bad.
