I had an outer CV boot go bad, figured at 150K I might as well buy a new one, well, 3 different parts from two stores were all wrong. I picked up an OE boot but had to use aftermarket bands. I re-greased the boot and reassembled the original axel. If I remember correctly one was too short at the transmission end and two were the wrong spline.
At 197K thankfully the axel is still working fine, guess this is the price us DIYers pay to save $200/hr. labor fees.
