Hello,
I have a 2011 non-eco boost flex with ~310K km. Yesterday I had a CEL come on while driving home but at the time the engine was running normally. About 5 minutes later I had a loud clunk/pop from the passenger side of the engine compartment. I pulled over and I was loosing fluid (thought it was oil at first but turns out it was antifreeze). Engine temp was normal at this time. I limped it down the road hoping to get home but once the engine temp started to climb I shut it off and brought it home on a trailer. It was running very rough. After doing a bunch of reading on these forums I’m sure my water pump has piled up, but the oil level on the dipstick is normal and doesn’t look contaminated. Trouble code scan shows:
P0016 - camshaft position/crankshaft position correlation sensor A
P0340 - camshaft position sensor A circuit
P0344 - camshaft position sensor A intermittent
My question is for others who have had similar issues, what else will I find damaged. It sounds like parts to change water pump/timing chains run in the $2000 range when there isnt a failure. I believe the writings on the wall but I am hoping to hear from someone who’s done a repair with similar symptoms to get an idea if it’s even worth thinking about, or just donate to a local charity!
Thank you in advance
