UPDATE:
Last month I ended up driving to North Carolina- I live in northwest Georgia, so about a five hour drive total- to pick up a rear differential pulled from a junkyard out of a wrecked 2015 Flex. I had my local mechanic install it and we've been driving it ever since without any issue. The first two days it did make a random clunk sound when starting out after it shifted into second gear, but after the third day it stopped and hasn't made it since.
Thank you to everyone who had responded and helped me figure this out!
