Ford's manual says so, but other more generic sources don't suggest that.
And that's quite a procedure, so would rather avoid it.

Related story - can't drive even 100ft with failed rear toe link, that probably destroyed my outer CV joint which started clicking after toe link replacement, so getting ready for half-shaft replacement now.. Which actually surprises me, as the wheel angle is not that bad, around 10-15 deg with failed toe link, CV joints should handle more.
