I'm having a similar problem on a 2014 Ford Flex front wheel drive with 160000 miles.
From the research I've done so far, it seems that the replacing the TCU does not fix this issue. You replaced the torque converter and replaced the TCU, which together has seemed to not work?
I have a code U0401-81, "Invalid data received from (ECM/PCM) A - Invalid Serial Data Received
Seems like to me a wiring fault... that would be the best case scenario but I also have reason to believe that there's an internal mechanical error with the torque converter clutch.
I have a scanner tool that shows me all the speed data and pressures from the transmission's sensors, but am not sure what data I should be comparing... if anybody can tell me when some of the stats I should be looking at should be that would be appreciated.
