Steering was suddenly stiff, mechanic initially suggested intermediate steering shaft be replaced. He then contacted me and said that with the 2014 models, you can't just replace this part, it's connected to the steering column, so the whole thing needs replacing. A year ago, I had the rack and pinion replaced (don't know if this info helps the situation but I thought I'd throw it out there.) They don't have the parts on hand to do this, so I picked up my car. Mechanic told me he lubed up the parts in the meantime. I will ask this same question to the mechanic when they open this morning, but wanted to get an idea if this all really needs to be replaced or can just occasionally be re-lubricated. I am at a crossroads in putting more money into this car.
