- Does anyone have any quick & simple tricks to set one of the 12v outlets to switched with the ignition?
I'd prefer not to re-wire one of them or to tap off of a switched fuse for the dash cam and Garmin. There really should be an option in the menus to choose switched or not or at least make some switched and some not. Constant on is helpful for charging a phone, but otherwise switched is preferred for dash cams and a stand alone GPS. All the 12v outlets in the '13 were always active, I would have thought Ford would have received enough feedback that by '18 at least some would have become switched!
...and in the same vein of Ford not improving on their crappy ideas... Anyone have any tricks to dealing with the awful capacitive touch "buttons" on the smooth center console. THOSE THINGS SUCK! Namely for me it's the temp controls. Driving home at night I can't aim my old man finger well enough to consistently hit the little "-" sign while driving at the same time. I don't want to have to change menus just to change the temp on the big screen. To help locate the buttons by feel instead of taking my eyes off the road I've been pondering a few ideas but haven't been able to completely flesh them out. Something like attaching a ring around the buttons I'd use the most so it would be easy to find the middle. But finding a thin, black plastic circular shim the right size that wouldn't look TOO ugly is hard enough, never mind how the heck would I cleanly attach it! Someone told me of a conductive epoxy that might work by making a small bump right over the "button", but I haven't been able to find a conductive epoxy as of yet and it would need to be clear or black so again, it wouldn't be TOO ugly. Don't know when I'll see this person again to ask if they can point me in a particular direction to find some.
Sync1 was awful and a safety hazard. Sync2 was only marginally better. Sync3 at least responds quicker to inputs, but is lacking in many other ways and a step back from Sync2 in some ways. At least with Sync2 I had the option of putting basic climate controls in the small screen to the right of the speedo. Why the hell was that option removed?! In so many ways Ford can't seem to get out of it's own way...
