Me again. Like I said in my first post, it's a long slow search. My minivan still works, and I don't want to "settle" on an almost ideal Flex. The hitch is perhaps the biggest question.
It seems that less than 10% of Flex came OEM with a hitch. Well over half the Flex with a hitch are aftermarket. I've seen one that caught my eye -- U-Haul hitch, oil cooler, stability turned on. Still ugly compared to factory! But, the question.
It seems that since the majority of hitches aren't factory, there is a fair amount of experience out there. Putting aside the legal issue, and putting aside the ugly issue -- does a well installed after market hitch with an oil cooler and stability turned on meet almost all of the functionality of a factory hitch? Those of you with aftermarket, have you found it to be a disappointment? Do you limit yourself to 2,000 lbs, or do you happily (and successfully) tow 4,000+?
I'd love to find a white (no black roof!) 2019 limited w/ecoboost, roof racks, and a factory hitch, all under 100K miles. I'd literally fly anywhere east of the Mississippi to get it. Sunroof and tan interior would seal the deal.
