Let me start out by saying that I could not find my issue after multiple searches and reading quite a few similar threads.
So, the steering in our '13 Flex FWD has started making a noise when turning the wheel, not quite a grinding noise, but close, almost like the sound when something is to tight (which nothing is). I jacked up the front end, and noticed that the noise seems to be coming from the steering rack (ignition on, engine not). The steering, while driving, feels as if the pump isn't working completely. The wheel will not center itself (don't think its an alignment issue) and will "fall" to one side quicker when turning. I'm wondering if the pump is bad and not sending fluid to the rack? How would I know if the rack is bad, or if its just a bad pump? I see no leaks, and there is no squealing. The fluid is within range.
If anyone has some insight, please let me know.
