I've owned this 2011 Flex SEL for about 3 weeks now. 118,000 miles - frankly, I haven't found anything wrong thus far, of a serious nature, anyway. For the last 25-30 years, I've been changing the automatic transmission on my vehicles every 50,000 miles. I bought an old ragged out '94 Toyota Camry for my son in 2009. One of the first things I did was change the tranny fluid, even though it seemed to work well. He drove it for 7 years and then sold it - no tranny problems. I've heard people say that if you buy a used vehicle without knowing the history, you shouldn't change the fluid unless there is a specific issue affecting the operation of the transmission.
I like this Flex better than I even thought I would. I'm not that much of a Ford fan, but this vehicle could be changing my mind. It is somewhat ingrained in me that a part of proper vehicle maintenance includes changing the tranny fluid, but some seem to say that I am inviting problems if I do so - that I should leave it alone if there are no apparent issues.
I did not search this topic out on the forum because there may be opinions that have changed since they were posted. I appreciate any and all input.
Thanks in advance.
