Powertrain / Under The Hood • Auto tranny slow to go into gear

Got this 2011 Flex in June 2024, had it about three months - FWD, no eco boost. Runs, drive great. When I select reverse, it sometimes - most, actually - feels like it takes a little too long to engage. And, when it does, it seems like the vehicle almost shudders a little. No slippage, though - goes into gear and performs like it should. I sometimes notice this going into drive, though not as much, and the shudder isn't as noticeable.

It bothered me enough that I had the tranny fluid replaced, which did not seem to help at all. I notice when driving in local traffic that when going up hills, there are sometimes downshifts that feel almost like the tranny is banging into gear.

Maybe this is just the way the vehicle is supposed to operate - it just feels like there is some slop somewhere in the workings, as compared to my other non-Ford vehicles.

Any thoughts here? Could it be a U-joint issue? TIA
