I recently bought a 2019 Flex Sel FWD with 27,000 miles. Love it so far.
It has the 20” wheels which seem to make it ride a tad rough. I was going to switch to 18’s but couldn’t find any locally.
Anyway I decide to put on new tires as the original were 6 years old, with fair tread but a little dry rotted. They were Hancock optima.
I opted for a set of Firestone fire hawks and am surprised at the difference. On the ride home it was noticeably smoother and less jarring. Handled and stopped about the same but just a more comfortable ride. I took it on the hiway and it was smooth and quiet up to 90 mph.
I have no idea how long they’ll last but have a 50,000 mile guarantee. So I guess at 40,000 I’ll be looking for new tires.
I bought them at NTB which it now part of Mavis. I had bought tires there several times previously with good results. While the tires are good, the installation was good, the customer service and the facility itself were terrible. The 10:00 am scheduled appointment finally got my car in at 11:30. Finally got out at almost 1:00 pm. The greeter/salesperson didn’t know if the tires had come in and wouldn’t go check. When I was leaving I asked where my car was parked and her response was “how would I know?”
Before Mavis, it was a pleasant store with great people and coffee and other niceties. I wouldn’t go back again if the tires were free. A real dump.
