Just picked up a 2014 Flex Limited EB with 170K on it. Engine is silky smooth and powerful, I forgot how much I loved the acceleration from the 2013 I had in , well, 2013. Other than hanging in 5th when cold, the trans shifts good, nice and firm, downshifts perfectly. It is quiet all around, no odd noises. The only known repair I have to make is the HVAC position motor its stuck on defrost.
So the question, when accelerating, I hear a thump thump thump that increases with speed, and if I let off, say accelerating to 60 MPH and let off at 45 then ease back into it to 60, it goes away. Once at speed it is quiet. There is also a vibration, but that could be anything, wheel, tire, etc.
I haven't been under it yet, does the driveshaft have a center bearing? Does it have U-joints, or are they CV? It is definitely a torque item making the noise since it quiets once the torque drops.
