Pulling out of the Mausoleum to say, YES, the bolt thing works best. I tried the slide hammer and suffered(still) from sore muscles. Would NOT budge. I found some square head bolts in my old tool box with nuts from floor anchors that were in another drawer, 3/8-16 to be exact. About 5" long. I cut two studs and air hammered them out, and just started wrenching and POOF out they came. Lots of corrosion between the spindle and hub.
Now those pesky rear calipers, I think my right arm has more soreness from THEM than the slide hammer! One of them took forever to compress, the other went right in but was more effort, bent the pins on the tool.
